Argentina…Not just Tango!

Riding Tokyo Blue. A young promising horse.

I just recently returned from visiting Argentina.  For many years, my friend and host Augusto has invited me to come and see what goes on in his country.  Now seemed like a good time to go and I’m glad I did.

During my visit there was Sol de Mayo, a Show Jumping Competition as well as a Sport Horse Auction of the horses from La Tatabra at the Club Hipico Argentina.

Trying a nice Hunter type.

Jumping an Equitation prospect.

Giving a lesson.

While there I had opportunities to ride as well as instruct some of the the Argentinian riders. Of course, we spent many hours scouting horses. I was most pleased with many of the prospects that we saw and hope to be able to offer some of them for sale soon.

Helping Santos.

Instructing a young professional.

Judging at Kelly’s Ford Equestrian Center

I was invited to be a Judge at Kelly’s Ford Equestrian Center. Kelly’s Ford is located on the historical site of the Kelly’s Ford Civil War Battlefield and is part of the 500 acre estate located along the Rappahannock River.

A funny thing happened in the leadline class. I asked each of the young rider’s “What is your pony’s name?”  When I came to the last rider, a young boy, he replied….It’s not my pony!

I had enjoyable time and thank James Moore and his staff for their fine efforts.

Corvette arrives

Corvette, a 6 year old  Silla Argentino kicks up his heels.  He must be happy to arrive in the USA!!

Working toward promotion.

Recently had the opportunity to work toward my promotion to USEF “R” Judge.  I judged the Hunters and Equitation with Kitty and John Barker as well as Scott Williamson. It was an enriching learning experience to sit in with such experienced judges and horse people. Also, judged the Jumpers with Jeff Smiley.  Thanks to all of them  as well as Show Manager David Burton,Jr for their help and hospitality.

Weekend in Charlotte

I had a very nice weekend instructing and training in Charlotte, North Carolina hosted by Angela Prince and Running Wind Farm. I enjoyed meeting and working with the riders and their mounts and look forward to returning soon.
